As November settles in & daylight grows short, we find ourselves drawn to quieter corners of the day. The spaces we’ve shaped feel different now, not just places to live,
but to gather, pause, & take stock before the year turns.
At Novaco, we see this season as one of refinement. Not reinvention, but adjustment. A chance to look closely at what’s working, what’s changing & what we’re ready to make next.
The rhythm in the studio is slower, but more deliberate, projects nearing completion, ideas forming in the background, the promise of what’s still to come. We’re lighting fires earlier, not just for warmth, but for the calm that comes with it, a steady glow against the dark, a moment to gather thoughts, before winter fully arrives.
monthly musings

This month has found us both closing & beginning. Two long-running projects, a care home & a private residence, are moving towards completion. These final weeks are about detail: resolving the small decisions that make a space feel whole.
As we wrap these builds, our focus has shifted inward too, growing the practice & shaping what comes next. We’ve had some exciting meetings & conversations recently, each one part of a wider plan for where Novaco is heading. In the coming months, you’ll start to see our work featured more widely, some secret opportunities we’re quietly proud of & can’t wait to share. And as the year edges toward winter, our attention turns to the creative close, planning photoshoots, capturing atmosphere & taking time to reflect on what these spaces have become. Each project leaves a mark; these ones feel especially significant.
studio notes
artist spotlight

We are drawn, quietly, to the work of the Cornish Woodsmith Dominic Pearce, who crafts woodenware from foraged native hardwood, guided by a patient attunement to each piece of wood.
His process is deliberate: Only when the wood speaks, when its grain & form reveal what it wants to become does he begin to shape it. Each spoon & bowl is born from collaboration, not imposition. We recognise this in our own work. In every sketch, every model, every decision, we listen more than we impose.
We wait for the ideas to settle, for clarity to emerge, before we commit. That shared intention, slow, considered, deeply rooted, is what connects our architecture to his craft.

intentions
In the month ahead, we’re channelling the energy of an expanded team into new directions. Fresh perspectives are opening space for different kinds of work, projects that stretch our thinking & broaden what Novaco can offer.
Our focus is on collaboration, exploration & purposeful growth. By embracing a wider range of disciplines & ideas, we aim to strengthen our practice & be able to support our new & valued clients in even more ways.
